Samsung's Q8F line sits a step below its Neo QLED and Micro RGB sets, and the 32-inch version is the smallest size the family comes in. It's built for rooms where a 55-inch panel would be overkill: a small bedroom, a home office desk, a kitchen counter with a view of the stove. Samsung sells it alongside the Q7F and QEF1 at the same size, and the difference that matters is under the hood rather than on the surface.

What separates the Q8F from those cheaper siblings is the processor and remote. The Q8F runs Samsung's Q4 AI chip and ships with a solar-cell remote, while the step-down Q7F tops out at a 60Hz Motion Xcelerator rating and the entry QEF1 uses a basic infrared remote instead. If you've been comparing Samsung's small-screen options and wondering what the extra money buys, it's mostly processing power and remote convenience, not a bigger or brighter panel.

This is a 2025 model, and Samsung positions it as part of its broader Vision AI push across the TV lineup. Some of those AI features, including generative wallpaper and Bixby's expanded command handling, are shared across sizes, but not every Vision AI feature works identically on every screen, and the 32-inch Q8F is one of the sizes where a feature or two gets left off the list.

QLED color in a size most QLED TVs skip

Most QLED technology shows up on 55-inch screens and larger, so finding it on a 32-inch panel is the actual reason to consider this set over a plain LED alternative at the same size. The Q4 AI processor is the same chip family Samsung uses across its 2025 QLED lineup, and it handles upscaling lower-resolution content up to 4K along with the color and sound optimization Samsung markets as part of Vision AI. Upscaling matters here because a lot of what actually plays on a bedroom or kitchen TV, cable news, older shows, YouTube clips, isn't native 4K to begin with, and the processor is doing real work to make it look sharp on a screen this size.

Where the Q8F 32-inch pulls back from its bigger siblings is HDR. Larger Q8F sizes get Quantum HDR+, Samsung's more elaborate scene-by-scene brightness and contrast system, while Samsung's own documentation specifies that the 32-inch model uses standard Quantum HDR with HDR10+ support. You'll still get expanded brightness and color on HDR10+ content from supporting streaming services, just not the more aggressive processing Samsung reserves for its larger panels.

Living with a small, AI-branded remote-first TV

The included Solar Cell remote is a small daily convenience that's easy to underrate until you own it: leave it facing a window or under a lamp and it recharges itself, and if it ever hits zero, a USB-C cable brings it back rather than sending you hunting for AAA batteries. For a TV likely to end up in a spare room where nobody remembers to restock batteries, that's a genuinely useful design choice.

Bixby handles voice control here, and Samsung notes the Q8F supports far-field microphones, meaning you can talk to the TV from across the room rather than needing to hold the remote up to your mouth. It recognizes English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Chinese, and Korean, though Samsung is upfront that not every accent or dialect is recognized cleanly, which is worth expecting rather than being surprised by.

Setup runs through a Samsung Account for network features like streaming apps, and without logging in you're limited to external device connections and over-the-air channels if the TV has a tuner. That's standard practice for smart TVs in 2025, but it's worth knowing going in if you'd rather not create another account tied to your living room hardware.

At 5.8 kg with its stand, the set is light enough to move between rooms without help, and the stand footprint (about 22.8 inches between the feet) fits most small dressers or media consoles without needing a wide piece of furniture.

The features that don't survive the size cut

AI Mode, the quick-access menu Samsung uses to auto-tune picture and sound settings based on your room and content, is explicitly not supported on the 32-inch Q8F. On larger sizes it's a genuine convenience feature; here, you'll be adjusting picture settings manually instead of letting the TV guess for you.

Gamers should know that the 144Hz Motion Xcelerator rating only applies to a direct PC connection with a compatible graphics card, and 4K at 144Hz specifically requires that PC setup. If your plan is console gaming, this isn't the spec that will make fast-paced games look smoother; treat the 144Hz number as a PC gaming feature, not a general motion-smoothing upgrade for cable news or movies.

And because the 32-inch size drops down to standard Quantum HDR instead of Quantum HDR+, buyers coming from research on the larger Q8F models should adjust their expectations. The color and processor carry over; the high-end HDR processing doesn't.
